Memorial Day is almost here! Better break out that barbecue grill early. More of your relatives or friends will probably be flying over to your state than you know. According to AAA’s CEO Marshall Doney, “Americans are eagerly waiting the start of summer and are ready to travel in numbers not seen in more than a decade. The great American roads trip is officially back thanks to low gas prices and millions of people from coast to coast are ready to kick off summer with a Memorial Day getaway.”
Memorial Day is celebrated on the last Monday in May. Like Purple Heart Day, this day also honors soldiers who take part in active service. And Americans are expected to hit the road and fly the skies in droves before and during it. Of course, if you plan to travel yourself, it doesn’t hurt to prepare early.
How much will you have to pay for car rentals and airfare before Memorial Day 2016? How much was the price of gas last on Memorial Day last year?
Check out these stats from Memorial Days past and present.
